When Jesus began making disciples, He was intentional about the people He chose to invest in. Mark 3:13–15 says Jesus called the twelve “so that they might be with him.” Jesus ministered to crowds, but He also intentionally invested in a smaller group, inviting them into His life so they could learn not only from what He taught but from how He lived. His example shows us what Christian mentoring can look like today. Each of us has people watching our lives and learning from what they see, whether we realize it or not. This morning, we will consider how Jesus chose His disciples, let them see His life, gave them opportunities to serve, corrected them when needed, and ultimately sent them to make disciples of others.
