Not Ourselves By Ourselves
Titus 2:1-8 The inspiration Paul receives from the Holy Spirit in Titus 2 emphasizes the intentional differences God gave to men and women. We are given different desires, tendencies, and proclivities. And though we are different, we were made for each other. We aren’t ourselves by ourselves. Christians best influence the surrounding culture when they live according to God’s design for the God-fearing home & Christ’s church.
Genesis 24:63-67 God teaches us to respect love. In Genesis 24, God preserves the covenant through Isaac & Rebekah. He also gives us insight into finding and preserving lifelong love.
Understanding the Ten Commandments…Honor thy father and mother
Exodus 20:12 Why we still need to “Honor our father and mother”
Scripture Reference: Genesis 2:24 What is the Bible’s clearest & simplest statement explaining marriage? For all the different ways man has conducted it’s marriage vows over the centuries, there is one statement about marriage that the Bible repeats four times. What’s amazing is that this statement remains unchanged. Before we can defend our idea of marriage, we should recognize God’s profound and concise statement about this special relationship He created. As is so often the case, understanding God’s intention and expectation helps us to understand Him and live more hopefully and joyfully.
Commitment: A Path to Success
Scripture: Philippians 2:1-4 The Bible is our best guide to strong, happy marriages. Where the world sees biblical teachings as restrictions, Christians should see them as the path to success. However, biblical guidance for marriage is not limited to the precious few passages that address directly the subject of marriage. Wherever the Bible teaches us how to be strong, faithful Christians, we will find indispensable guidance for how to grow as godly wives & husbands.
