Terry Duffy

Terry was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska, and educated there within the Catholic school system through High School.  He entered the Navy in 1969, serving over a year in the Vietnam conflict.  Shortly after the military, he was taught and convicted that New Testament Christianity through the Scriptures was the path that he’d give his life to.  He was baptized in West Monroe, Louisiana on Jan 23, 1974.

In February of 1975, he began a 2-year intensive study of the Bible at White’s Ferry Road School of Biblical Studies.  During his studies there, he met and married (1975) a beautiful, committed Christian from Canada, Karen Bell.  Upon graduation, they became missionaries on the island of Cyprus for 5 years.

Upon return to the U.S. in 1983, Terry began a 25-year career with UPS.  He was involved in planting a new congregation in his hometown in 1995 and became one of its first elders in 2005.  Terry retired early from UPS in 2008 to work with the church in Nebraska City as their minister for 7 years.

Terry & Karen have three lovely daughters (Kimberly, Rachel, Stephanie) along with their godly husbands (Justin, Ryan, Trevor) who are faithful Christians all living in Olathe.   Upon retirement in 2016, Terry and Karen moved to Louisburg KS to be near their daughters and their families which includes 8 grandchildren.

Terry and his wife began attending the 151st congregation in August of 2016 and Terry was appointed an elder of the 151st church family in August of 2021.

One of Terry’s favorite verses is Psalm 37:3-5

“Trust in the Lord and do good….Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.”
