Born and raised in Wyoming, David and Jenny Shipley met and married while attending the University of Wyoming in Jenny’s hometown of Laramie. While in college, the couple was active with the church of Christ in Laramie as well as with the Christian Student Center on the University of Wyoming campus. David’s preaching experience goes back to high school where he first began preaching for some of the small congregations near his hometown of Lander.
Upon graduation from college in 2007, the couple headed south spending two and a half years working with the Lamesa church of Christ, 60 miles south of Lubbock, TX. While David’s primary area of responsibility was youth, he was also involved in ministry with the men of the congregation as well as in conducting evangelistic personal Bible studies. Jenny assisted with the youth program as well as volunteering for a local Job Training Program teaching English as a Second Language.
The Shipleys moved to Alaska in September 2010 to work with the Valley church of Christ in Wasilla, Alaska. David worked in a preaching apprenticeship program as well as a substitute teacher in the local school system. Their children, Nathan and Josie, were both born in Alaska. In May of 2016, the family moved to Olathe to work with youth and families alongside the 151st St church of Christ.
